Why buy electrical and plumbing material from one supplier in Gurgaon (one quote instead of three)
Most flat owners and contractors in Gurgaon still collect separate quotes from an electrical shop, a sanitary shop and an automation vendor. Here is what that costs in time, money and mistakes, and how a single BOQ quote from one supplier works in practice.
Ask anyone who has renovated a flat in Gurgaon how they bought the material and you will hear the same story. The electrician sent them to one shop for wire and switches. The plumber sent them to another for pipes and fittings. The sanitaryware came from a showroom, the smart lock from an online store, and the fan from wherever the discount was that week. Four or five quotes, four or five deliveries, four or five people to chase when something was short.
Most of the people who contact us say they came because they wanted to stop doing that. This post explains why buying everything from one supplier usually works out cheaper and faster, and how a single-quote order actually runs.
What the multi-shop approach really costs
Time. Each shop needs a visit or a long WhatsApp exchange, each quote comes in a different format, and comparing them means retyping everything into one sheet. For a 3BHK that is easily two or three evenings before a single item is ordered.
Money, in ways that are hard to see. Retail counters price per item with a margin on each. Nobody is pricing the whole list, so nobody is giving you a list price. Small lots also mean paying for transport several times, and running back for the items that were forgotten.
Mismatches between trades. The electrician's list and the plumber's list are written separately, so the geyser point ends up with a 16A socket but no dedicated MCB, the concealed shower body is bought but the matching trim is not, or the smart switches arrive and there is no neutral in the box. When one supplier sees both lists, these gaps get caught before anything is bought.
Delivery chaos. Five suppliers means five delivery days, five sets of packaging on the site, and labour standing idle because the conduit arrived but the boxes did not.
No single point of responsibility. When an item is short on a Saturday evening, five suppliers means five phone calls and five versions of "not my problem".
What a single-supplier order looks like
- One list goes out. The electrician's slip, the plumber's slip and the designer's fitting schedule go to one supplier together. Photos of handwritten lists are fine; so is an Excel BOQ.
- One quote comes back. Every line is priced brand-wise at trade rates, electrical, plumbing and sanitary, and automation side by side, in one sheet, with GST shown once at the bottom. Anything short or discontinued is flagged with an alternative.
- The cross-trade checks happen here. Because the whole list is visible, the supplier can ask the obvious questions: does the AC circuit have its own MCB, are the concealed bodies and trims from the same series, do the smart switches have a neutral.
- Deliveries are staged, not scattered. Conduit, boxes and pipes arrive at the civil stage; wire at pulling stage; switches, DB, CP fittings and sanitaryware at finishing. Two or three deliveries instead of ten.
- One invoice, one person to call. The GST invoice names the brands, so warranty is clean, and top-ups mid-project go to the same number at the same rates.
Why the price usually comes out lower
A dealer who quotes a full list prices the list, not the item. The wire, switches, DB, pipes and fittings together come to a figure that is almost always below the sum of five counter prices, even when one or two individual items match. Transport is included or charged once. And the cost of mistakes, the wrong finish, the missing valve, the second trip, drops close to zero because the list was checked as a whole.
The honest exception is the single specialist item: a particular imported fitting or a specific showroom-only sanitaryware range may be priced lower at that showroom. A good one-stop supplier will tell you so rather than mark it up.
Who this suits
- Flat owners and designers finishing or renovating an apartment: one list, one quote, two deliveries, done.
- Contractors and MEP teams who want the BOQ priced in one go and a single account for top-ups.
- Builders standardising electrical, plumbing and smart-home specifications across towers on one running account.
How to start
Put everything you need, electrical, plumbing and sanitary, and any smart devices, into one list and send it to one supplier. If the supplier only stocks one category and resells the other, you will see it in the quote: the weaker category will be thin on brands and slow to answer questions. Ask which brands they carry directly in each.
At JP Pro Supply this is the whole model: one list in, one brand-wise quote out, one or two deliveries anywhere in Gurgaon and NCR. Our one-stop BOQ supply page describes how project accounts run, and the electrical, plumbing and home automation pages list what we stock in each.
Frequently asked questions
Is it really cheaper to buy electrical and plumbing material from one supplier?
Usually yes for a full flat or site list, because the supplier prices the whole list at trade rates and transport is charged once. For a single specialist item a showroom may occasionally be cheaper; a good supplier will say so.
Can one supplier really stock both electrical and plumbing properly?
Some can, some resell one category at a markup. Check which brands they carry directly in each category and how quickly they answer a technical question on the weaker side. A dealer who stocks Polycab and Astral directly, and can talk about MCB ratings and SDR classes in the same conversation, is the real thing.
Do I still need my electrician and plumber to make the list?
Yes. They know the site. The supplier's job is to price it, check it for gaps between the two trades, and deliver it in the right order. Send both lists together and let the supplier cross-check them.
What about home automation, is that part of the same quote?
It should be, because smart switches and locks depend on the electrical work: neutrals at the switch box, box depth, load ratings. Quoting automation on the same BOQ as the electrical material catches those issues before anything is bought.
